Brits are increasingly turning to the stars for answers to life’s problems and to seek guidance through these uncertain times, a new study finds.
A new survey of 1,003 UK adults conducted by medium and psychic online experience platform, mediumchat.co.uk, has revealed that more than 1 in 3 Brits (39%) regularly consult their horoscopes to find out what the universe has in store for them on a certain day.
The research comes as the medium platform announces a 104% increase in horoscope enquiries made through its website, following the UK lockdown announcement in March.
The study found that 42% of British adults have found some truth in past horoscope readings, such as an accurate prediction of an event or state of mind.
As many as 1 in 4 adults admit they have previously made decisions based on their horoscope reading, with 22% saying a horoscope reading has helped them make up their mind about something.
According to the findings, 1 in 4 millennials admit they have made a decision at work based on a reading with 19% stating they have considered looking for a new job because their horoscope suggested it may be a good idea.
Avid fans of astrology will be aware that different star signs are believed to be more compatible than others.
The survey also found that 32% of women have previously looked up a potential partner’s star sign to see if it was compatible with their own – a trend that is particularly popular amongst women aged 18-35, with 42% of this age group saying they have done this.
