‘Polish and allied aircraft activated’ amid ‘intense activity of long-range aviation’ on Ukraine border

Russia launched a major attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in the west forcing “Polish and allied aircraft” to scramble NATO fighter jets.

Russian long-range bombers ‘carried out’ attacks “against objects” targeted in Ukraine overnight in the early hours of Friday.

Russia attacked energy infrastructure in central and western regions, a thermal and hydroelectric power plants in the central and western regions were damaged, emergency shutdowns were introduced.

Poland announced on Friday that in the early hours “Polish and allied aircraft have been activated” due to the major Russian missile and drone attacks.

The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces said, “We would like to inform you that tonight there is intense activity of long-range aviation of the Russian Federation, related to missile strikes of Tu-95, Tu-22 and MIG-31 aircraft carried out against objects located in the territory of Ukraine.

All necessary procedures to ensure the safety of Polish airspace have been launched, and DORSZ [the Polish Operational Command of the Branches of the Armed Forces] is monitoring the situation on an ongoing basis.

“We warn that Polish and allied aircraft have been activated, which may result in increased noise levels, especially in the south-eastern part of the country.”

Ukrainian air defence destroyed 84 Russian air targets, 58 suicide drones and 26 missiles which entered into the country.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces Mykola Oleschuk reported on Friday, “As a result of the anti-aircraft battle, 84 air targets were destroyed: 58 attack UAVs of the Shahed-136/131 type; 17 X-101/X-555 cruise missiles; five X-59 guided aircraft missiles, and four Iskander-K cruise missiles.”
