Getting the sack from the BBC might just be the best thing that’s ever happened to Jeremy Clarkson.

Clarkson is set to make £10m a year in fees for his new Amazon car show with James May and Richard Hammond.

This means he’d earn £800,000 per episode making him Britain’s highest-paid TV host.

A source told the Daily Mirror: “Jeremy will be looking at £9.6m a series with the other two not far behind, on the same deal as the producer.

“Clarkson may have lamped someone over a hot dinner but he’ll be raking it in.”

Amazon Prime is set spend £4.5m on filming each episode. Its total budget for the show is reportedly £160m on 36 episodes over three years.

Earlier this year, Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon, admitted that the show is going to be “very, very, very expensive” for the company.
