The French President Emmanuel Macron has said that the European Union (EU) are set to impose another “new package” of sanctions on Russia.

Russia has so far been able to circumvent most of the sanctions over the past three years and is being armed by hostile states and is making billions from shadow fleet ships delivering oil.

Macron said, “We previously adopted a new package of sanctions against Russia.

“We are preparing another one. And I think its fate will depend on the negotiations in the coming days and weeks. But nothing can be ruled out.”

On Tuesday Switzerland imposed sanctions on a further 14 people and 41 entities are now subjected to asset freezes.

The Swiss government said in a statement, “A further 14 individuals and 41 entities are now subject to an asset freeze and a ban on the provision of economic resources.

“The individuals are also banned from entering and transiting Switzerland. The newly sanctioned individuals and entities include Russian and international companies managing shadow fleet vessels, traders of Russian crude oil, and suppliers to Russia’s military industrial complex, including those based in third countries.”

These steps have been taken as the EU are set to impose their 18th package of sanctions on Russia, “Acting within its mandate, the EAER has incorporated various listings on Switzerland’s behalf.”

The Swiss government said that 105 more vessels from third countries will be hit with a ban over the purchase and sale which form part of Putin’s shadow fleet who are circumventing the price cap on Russian crude oil and oil products.

The Swiss government has followed the EU by lowering the price cap on Putin’s crude oil to $47.6 a barrel.
