Cristiano Ronaldo handed a £17m fine with a suspended two-year jail sentence

The Portuguese international football star, Cristiano Ronaldo has escaped a jail term over allegations of tax evasion in Madrid.

Ronaldo was accused of tax fraud valued at £12.9m from 2011 to 2014, his net worth is valued at £354m and earns a salary of £44m per annum.

Last year Ronaldo pleaded guilty after Spanish authorities bought charges against him. He was in court for 45 minutes as he accepted a deal given to him by prosecutors to pay a fine of £16.7m.
