British tourists who were expecting to fly to Portugal from Monday will now have to cancel their plans as the country has banned holidays until 30 May.
On Tuesday Boris Johnson announced that Portugal is on the governmentโs green list from 17 May, but guidance published on the Portuguese governmentโs website states the current level of lockdown will continue until 30 May.
Thousands of British football fans who were to travel to Portugal for the Man City and Chelsea English Champions League final on 29 May in Porto will now not happen.
According to the BBC, Portuguese Cabinet Office Minister Mariana Vieira da Silva was asked on Thursday if restrictions will be lifted on travel from the UK, she said she has โno information to give yet.โ
She added, โWork is going on and as soon as there is a decision it will be announced, but no decision was taken in this cabinet meeting.โ
