The US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff has met with Vladmir Putin and told Fox News a potential peace deal might centre over the five territories that Russia partially occupies.
These territories are Kherson, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Crimea which were illegally annexed by Moscow.
The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has ruled out allowing Russia to keep Crimea saying this “violates our constitution.”
Zelensky said, “There is nothing to talk about. This violates our Constitution. This is our territory, the territory of the people of Ukraine.”
Doanld Trump’s administration is considering to allow Putin to keep Crimea as part of Washington’s proposals to end the war, and President Zelensky has said that these proposals plays into Putin’s “game.”
President Zelensky said, “As soon as talks about Crimea and our sovereign territories begin, the talks enter the format that Russia wants prolonging the war because it will not be possible to agree on everything quickly.”
