The US President Donald Trump has said that Zelensky must hold elections which is the cost of peace as there has not been any “elections in Ukraine,” he said.
Trump has said that Kyiv should give up “almost all of the land” in exchange for peace, but would the US President give up Florida or New York to Putin, would the UK give up the Isle of White, NO, so why should Ukraine.
Trump said, “We have a situation where we haven’t had elections in Ukraine, where we have martial law, essentially martial law in Ukraine, where the leader in Ukraine, I mean, I hate to say it, but he’s down at 4% approval rating, and where a country has been blown to smithereens…
“If Ukraine wants a seat at the table, wouldn’t the people have to say it has been a long time since they had an election?
“That’s not a Russian thing, that’s something coming from me and coming from many other countries also,” which is quite incorrect.

Trump accuses Ukraine ‘of starting the war’ and that they could have made a deal
Trump said that “I don’t know how anybody even lives there [Ukraine]” and claims Ukraine could have given “almost all of the land, everything, almost all of the land, and no people would have been killed, and no city would have been demolished.”
Trump then said with arrogance to reporters, that Ukraine was not at the talks, he said, “But today I heard, ‘Oh, well, we weren’t invited.’
“Well, you’ve been there for three years. You should have never started it. You could have made a deal.”
Whilst Trump claims just 4% trust Zelensky, this is unfounded as the Kyiv Independent reports, polling from the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, show from December 2024, 52% of all Ukrainians trust President Zelensky.
