The US has recorded 1,000,000 new coronavirus cases in just six days, and according to data from the John Hopkins University, the country is now in their third wave.

The US now has more than 11,000,000 cases and as of Monday morning, a total of 246,224 people have died across the country.

This latest wave is by far the biggest, as cases are surging, and last Friday there was 177,224 confirmed cases in 24-hours.

On Monday, the US BioTech firm Moderna announced a coronavirus vaccine breakthrough which is claimed to be more effective than the Pfizer/BioNTech jab announced last week.

Moderna has said that their data shows the vaccine is almost 95% more effective, and the pharmaceutical company hailed it as a “great day.”
