A top Russian propagandist for Vladimir Putin has been “arrested” in Spain and is wanted in Ukraine for “high treason.”

The Kyiv Independent has said that, “popular pro-Russian blogger, politician Anatoly Shariy” was a “detained in Spain.”

Shariy had recently reported to MPN News that he was made aware of an assassination attempt by the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) after he had received a staged email from a friend of his whereabouts.

Shariy had fled to Spain in 2012 and his personal details including his address was published on the Myrotvorets online database as an enemy of the state and is wanted in Ukraine for “high treason.”

In March the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky banned his political party the Shariy party. The SBU have accused Shariy of helping to organising pro-Russian media campaigns and fled to Spain when a criminal case was bought against him for assault.
