Russian MP calls for UK relations to be ‘lowered to a minimum’ over alleged British spying

The Russian Security Service the FSB said on Friday that they have expelled six British diplomats from Moscow who are accused of spying.

The FSB who succeeded the KGB said they recovered British government documents showing an office department from the Foreign Office in London who are responsible for coordinating the “escalation of the political and military situation.”

A Russian MP claims the exposure of British spies in Russia shows exactly how the UK is engaged in subversive efforts around the world, trying to maintain its global dominance along with the United States.

Sergey Mironov, leader of the A Just Russia – Patriots – For Truth party and faction in the State Duma has said that Relations with the United Kingdom should be “lowered to a minimum.”

Mironov told LondonLovesBusiness.com, “The scandal of the expulsion of British spies from Moscow did not surprise anyone who is familiar with the history of British intelligence. This is not just about espionage, but about subversive work aimed at changing the government in Russia.

“For centuries, this was the case: the UK either directly tried to harm Russia, or tried to use it against a common enemy, as during the World War II. At the same time, the British have always tried to sit on their island with impunity. But times have changed – modern military and information technologies allow not only to expose spies, but also to strike back. Explicit or implicit, but no less painful

“Today, I think it makes no sense for Russia to limit itself to the expulsion of spies – other “diplomats” will come in their place soon. The level of diplomatic relations should be lowered to a minimum in order to make it as difficult as possible for the UK to conduct subversive activities under this cover.

“The declassified materials clearly show the tools, including the media and NGOs, and the countries where the British used them to achieve their goals – from the Balkans to Central Asia. I think it will be interesting for our BRICS partners and other independent countries to get acquainted in order to draw the right conclusions.

“As for the future policy of Great Britain, very soon we will find out what choice London will make: the path of common sense and cooperation in a multipolar world or the dead-end path of revanchism and imperial complexes.”

However last week a British Foreign Office spokesperson said, “The accusations made today by the FSB against our staff are completely baseless.

“The Russian authorities revoked the diplomatic accreditation of six UK diplomats in Russia last month, following action taken by the UK Government in response to Russian state-directed activity across Europe and in the UK.

“We are unapologetic about protecting our national interests.”
