A senior military Israeli officer has warned Hamas they have “opened the gates of hell” as Israeli forces are preparing a ground attack in the Gaza Strip.
Fighting is ongoing on the ground in southern Israel and according to Egyptian negotiators, they have notified Israel that if the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) launch a ground counteroffensive then the leader of Hezbollah Hassan Nasrallah will order thousands of his fighters into the war.
The Israeli National Security Council has now “approved” for ground operations “to begin in the Gaza Strip” and there is now a “very high degree of probability” Hezbollah will join the conflict which will be a major and serious escalation of the war.

COGAT is a branch of the Israeli Ministry of Defence who coordinates between the IDF, international groups, the Palestinian Authority and the Israeli government.
A spokesperson for Israel’s Defence Forces (IDF) has told Sky News on Saturday afternoon that as we speak fighting is ongoing.
Speaking from Tel Aviv, Lieutenant Colonel Richard Hecht said the IDF are trying to stop the attack “without having our civilians killed.”
“The IDF does not kill intentionally civilians. We have had a severe morning which started off with multiple salvos coming into the state, firing sporadically to kill anyone,” he said.
He added, “We want all people that came into Israel to be dead, that’s our goal.
“I’m not going to be nice about it. We are engaging in fire with these terrorists that came through.
“If someone surrenders that is a different ball game, but right now they’re firing at us.”
He then said that “There are families hiding in houses, people have been abducted, people have been killed… they went after our civilians surrounding Gaza.”
