HSBC bans all staff to Hong Kong over coronavirus outbreak

On Tuesday Hong Kong’s chief executive Carrie Lam announced they are to suspend all cross-border travel between mainland china from Hong Kong to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

HSBC Europe’s largest bank has banned all staff from travelling to Hong Kong and to mainland China for two weeks, according to an internal memo seen by Reuters.

A spokeswoman for HSBC said, “We are asking those who have travelled to mainland China or been in contact with anyone who has travelled to or through Hubei province in the last 14 days to stay home for a period of 14 calendar days.”

More than 4,500 people have been confirmed with coronavirus and over 100 people have died in China.

Germany has seen the worlds first case of human to human transmission of coronavirus from a Chinese national visiting Germany.
