It’s here! The much awaited Google Glass has launched in the UK with a £1,000 pricetag.
Features include a “heads-up” display with which you can access email, browse the internet with voice control and watch videos.
Ed Sanders, marketing director, Google Glass, said: “One of the reasons we’re here in the UK is the country’s spirit of innovation. The consumers, developers and inventors in the UK have a very rich heritage of embracing new technology.
“Glass is not a finished product yet and part of the spirit of the explorer programme is so that we can work closely with developers and consumers in the UK at a local level to find out what will take the product forward.”
Last year, the Department for Transport said it will ban the device due to security hazards. It’s now said it is working with Google to work out a solution.
A spokesperson said: “There are no plans to change [the existing laws] and we have met with Google to discuss the implications of the current law for Google glass. Google is anxious its products do not pose a road safety risk and are currently considering options to allow the technology to be used in accordance with the law.”
