Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) claims to have arrested a Ukrainian intelligence agent who was planning to blow up a Russian Defence Ministry official on Thursday.
The FSB claims to have foiled Ukrainian plots to kill high-ranking military officers and allegedly their family members in Moscow.
According to the FSB the Ukrainian intelligence agent who was arrested is claimed to have said, “On December 23, at the request of my acquaintance Ragozha, Vitaly Nikolayevich, currently living in Poland, I took a parcel from an abandoned building in the town of Lyubertsy.
“It was intended as a gift for a Defence Ministry serviceman. As Ragozha told me, there was an envelope in the parcel.
“I also involved a person I was acquainted with to deliver the parcel. But I failed to give it over as I was detained by FSB operatives.”

The FSB who is the main successor to the Soviet-era KGB said, “The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation has prevented a series of assassination attempts on high-ranking military personnel of the Defence Ministry.
Four Russian citizens involved in the preparation of these attacks have been detained.
The FSB said that they have seized communications devices and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
The FSB also said on Thursday that an agent of the Ukrainian special services was caught whilst trying to plant a bomb under the car of a senior Russian military official.
The FSB released a video where the Ukrainian agent said, “I didn’t have time to plant the bomb as I was arrested.”
The detainee was allegedly recruited in Ukraine and moved there in November 2020 and he was provided with the bomb to plant in the Moscow region.
The Ukrainian detainee said, “The bomb was intended to be detonated remotely by operatives of Ukrainian special services.
“At the supervisor’s instruction, I began to wait for a command to plant it under the car. I understood and was aware that the explosive was intended to be planted under the service car.”
