Covid-19: Deloitte’s London office closed as staff member tests positive

Accountancy firm Deloitte has closed their Holborn office after a member of staff returned from a work trip in Asia with coronavirus.

The staff member was tested positive for the virus and the New Street Square office in Holborn is now closed and undergoing a deep clean.

A Deloitte spokesperson said, “One of the floors in our offices has recently been impacted, with a member of staff being confirmed with Covid-19 after returning from a personal trip to Asia.

“The member of staff is now in hospital and receiving good care.”

The Department of Health and Social Care has announced on Wednesday afternoon the UK now has 85 confirmed cases of coronavirus.

This morning there were 53 confirmed cases, and this has now soared by 32 in one day, the biggest jump so far in the UK.

Germany’s Health Minister Jens Spahn has warned on Wednesday the coronavirus outbreak has now turned into a “global pandemic.”

Spahn said the outbreak, which has been teetering on the verge of a pandemic for many weeks, has now surpassed the level of epidemic.

Spahn told German lawmakers in the Bundestag, “The coronavirus outbreak in China has become a global pandemic.”
