Twitter is warning people of security breaches
Twitter has sent out alerts to some of its users, warning them hackers working for governments have targeted their information.
Coldhak, a Canadian non-profit, was the first to tweet about the message. Afterwards, other organisations got in touch to say they had received the same message.
It read: “As a precaution, we are alerting you that your Twitter account is one of a small group of accounts that may have been targeted by state-sponsored actors. We believe that these actors (possibly associated with a government) may have been trying to obtain information such as email addresses, IP addresses and/or phone numbers,” the email said.
It added that there was no evidence the hackers got the information they wanted.

Though the message doesn’t make clear which government or governments are responsible for the hack, it is thought China and North Korea both have done this in the past.
