Apple’s yearly Worldwide Developer Conference is Christmas for software developers all over the world.
It’s an event where over 1,000 Apple engineers and 5,000 software developers together write code for the next generation of cool gadgetery.
However, the highlights for tech aficionados are new apps and softwares.
The big announcement yesterday was Apple’s new Mac system, called Yosemite, that will contain a host of new features.
What are they? Take a look:
1. Brand new iOS 8
Apple unveiled the newest version of its operating system yesterday. Key new features include a new notification system where people can respond without opening or switching apps.
2. New keyboard
The updated version of Apple’s operating system includes a new iPhone keyboard which boasts a QuickType system that can predict words the user is likely to use.
3. Apple’s answer to Snapchat
Apple launched new features to soup-up iMessage, including the ability to send video and audio messages which self-delete on the recipient’s phone, much like Snapchat.
Apple’s big announcement was an app called Health which measures users’ personalised healthcare statistics. The app also boasts a feature where it contacts a user’s hospital directly if it notices irregularities.
5. iCloud Drive
In a bid to take on Dropbox, Apple launched the iCloud Drive, a cloud-based storage service that saves files on Apple’s remote servers.The storage provided is more than Dropbox’s 2GB sign-up allowance. However, the storage Apple provides is less than Google Drive’s 15GB limit and Microsoft One Drive’s 7GB limit.
