Angus Robertson favourite to replace Nicola Sturgeon as Kate Forbes odds shorten in Scotland first minister race

Angus Robertson remains the Evens favourite to replace the departing Nicola Sturgeon as Scotland’s first minister whilst odds on Kate Forbes to succeed Sturgeon have been slashed to 10/3 from 5/1 since Wednesday.

Other contenders for the top job include Humza Yousaf (15/2), Keith Brown (10/1) and Joanne Cherry (14/1).

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: “Angus Robertson remains the Evens favourite to replace Nicola Sturgeon as Scotland’s first minister after she announced her resignation on Wednesday.

“Robertson, one of Sturgeon’s closest allies and a Scottish National Party veteran, looks set to face competition from Kate Forbes, whose odds to be the next first minister have shortened to 10/3 from 5/1 since Wednesday.

“John Swinney had been a 9/1 contender to succeed Sturgeon, but he ruled himself out of the race on Thursday. Humza Yousaf follows behind Forbes at 15/2, with Keith Brown 10/1 and Joanne Cherry 14/1.”
