Everyone knows and loves the peri-peri chicken and familiarity of a Nando’s, but not everyone knows the behind the scenes of what makes Nando’s so iconic.

360 brand design agency, Harrison, has worked with Nando’s to design their well-known locations for the last 24 years.

They essentially create the feeling of comfort and familiarity in every location, while still bringing a unique experience with strong ties to the surrounding area, every time.

Each concept is different and designed to utilise the surrounding location in the best way – for example, in the Nando’s Coventry Arena restaurant pipework hangs from the ceiling to represent the organ pipes of the famous Coventry Cathedral Organ.

Getting the balance between unique locations and ensuring that no matter where the restaurant is, everyone knows they are in a Nando’s, is a fine line to balance – but one Harrison and Nando’s has been doing almost under the radar for over two decades together.

Another little special touch – a vital part of what makes Nando’s is its artwork, which is different in each location. Every single piece (from over 350 artists who have created over 9,000 pieces now) are pieces of contemporary Southern African art – making Nando’s the biggest collector of Southern African contemporary art in the world.
