Just hours after reports confirmed that the Westminster ‘terror’ suspect Salih Khater was in London ‘to get a Sudanese visa’, police are still trying to figure out the motive behind the alleged attack.

Police have now been granted extra time to question Khater. Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu, the head of UK counterterror policing, further told media that they are treating the incident as an act of terrorism “given that it appears to have been a deliberate act, the method used and the iconic location”.

29-year-old Salih Khater, who came to the UK as a refugee from Sudan, was arrested on suspicion of an act of terrorism and attempted murder after the incident on Tuesday.
