One of Vladimir Putin’s closest allies has sent the US President Donald Trump a warning that if he “has no solution” to ending the war then “it will lead to a world war.”
Putin only wants peace on his terms, which means all the illegally annexed regions of occupied Ukraine must be given to Russia, Kyiv is never allowed to join NATO and President Volodymyr Zelensky must stand down, these are just some of his demands.
Oligarch Andrey Melnichenko warned that if there is any escalation in the war this could lead to a “world war” as he claims that the US has too much power in the region.
Melnichenko told Danish newspaper Frihedsbrevet, “If the escalation continues under Trump, and the Russian leadership gets the impression that this is a problem that has no solution, it will lead to a world war.”
However, if there is no escalation then war could end this year, Melnichenko said as per Newsweek.

The EU describes Melnichenko as a “member of the closest circle of Vladimir Putin” and he has been accused of policies that threatens Ukraine.
In January the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko told the Rossiya-24 television channel, “And will not only seek ironclad international guarantees that will prevent Ukraine’s membership in NATO in any form, but we will also insist it will become a policy of the alliance itself.”
Grushko who is clearly speaking for Putin said, “For us, this is one of the key elements of a possible deal on the conflict in Ukraine, this relates to the elimination of the root causes of this conflict,” to end Ukraine discussing joining NATO.
He added, NATO membership “rules out the achievement of peace in Ukraine and, in a broader sense, the creation of at least some kind of security architecture.”
The Russian Deputy Minister furiously hit out at the NATO Bucharest summit in 2008 that allows Ukraine and Georgia to become members of the alliance.
He warned this will be “catastrophic for European security” and any failure to withdraw will cause “unacceptable ambiguity” for Moscow.
