Thousands of British soldiers to ‘stand ready’ to move at ‘a moment’s notice’ to lead ‘NATO’s Joint Task Force’

From 1 January 2024 thousands of British forces will be on standby to form the leadership of the “Very High Readiness Joint Tack Force.”

Following the illegal annexation of Crimea in 2014, NATO’s leadership was placed on rotation amongst the Alliance members.

NATO’s rapid response force will take the lead from Germany, putting thousands of soldiers on immediate standby.

The British Defence Secretary said that the UK’s armed forces will stand ready and move at “a moment’s notice” if and when ordered to do so.

Grant Shapps said, “The UK is at the heart of NATO.

“By heading up NATO’s Very High Readiness Joint Task Force in 2024, we are taking another leading position in the alliance, sending a clear message that Britain is stepping up to our global defence commitments as NATO enters its 75th year.

“The UK’s armed forces stand ready, at a moment’s notice, to defend our allies and protect the British national interest.”

“The world is a more dangerous and contested place than it has been for decades and we need NATO more than ever.

“The UK and its allies are committed to supporting NATO and what it stands for.”

Ukrainian forces blew up another Russian warship in the Black Sea which has been completely destroyed on Boxing Day.

The night time sky was lit up by a giant fire ball after Ukraine fired “Storm Shadow and Scalp missiles” on the Crimean port of Feodosia.

The Russian appointed governor of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov confirmed the attack and said that at least one person has been killed in the Ukrainian air strike.

Shapps said. the strikes on the Russian fleet in the Black Sea show that those who believe that there is a stalemate in the war in Ukraine are very wrong.,

Shapps wrote on X, “They haven’t noticed that over the past four months 20% of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet has been destroyed. Russia’s dominance in the Black Sea is now challenged and the new UK and Norway led Maritime Capability Coalition is helping Ukraine to ensure Ukraine will win at sea.”
