The founder of messaging app Telegram Pavel Durov, 39 was leaving his private jets as it landed on Saturday evening at Bourget airport close to Paris and he was arrested.
The billionaire tech mogul was arrested in France as an arrest warrant was issued amid a preliminary investigation by police.
The police investigation is focused on the lack of moderators according to BFM TV and TF1 and French officials believe this therefore has allowed criminal activity on Telegram to flourish.
US commentator Tucker Carlson who interviewed Vladimir Putin earlier this year believes Durov has been detained in France because he is refusing to “censor the truth,” he wrote on X.
Durov told Carlson in April that watns to keep Telegram “neutral” and “free from geopolitics.”
