Russia warns the West ‘don’t poke the bear’ as Ukraine ‘capture 100 prisoners of war’

Ukraine has captured “100 prisoners of war” in the Kursk region of mainland Russia as Kyiv’s forces continue their advance.

The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that since Wednesday morning his troops have advanced by one to two kilometres.

President Zelensky said that capturing more Russian soldiers will “accelerate the return of our guys and girls home.”

Western allies have given their backing to Kyiv with their invasion of the Kursk and Belgorod regions which have been used to launch missiles and kamikaze drones on civilian areas inside Ukraine.

The Polish Prime Minister, Donald Tusk said on Wednesday that Kyiv has “”every right to wage war in such a way as to paralyse Russia” and described the invasion of mainland Russia as “defensive.”

He added that “we support Ukraine in the war, which is a defensive war.”

The Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo said that Ukraine “has the right to self-defence” and his Estonian counterpart Kristen Michal said, “We fully support Ukraine in its different operations and personally I wish them luck.”

A Russian official has claimed that the West are involved with the invasion of the Kursk and Belgorod regions.

Member of the State Duma Maria Butina told Reuters, “Of course they are involved.

“When I studied in the United States the main rule was: ‘Don’t poke the bear’. What the West is doing today? They are poking the bear.”
