Russia has started their third stage of nuclear drills using mobile โIskander-M operational-tactical missile systemsโ in the battlefield of Occupied Ukraine.
The Russian Defence Ministry said on Wednesday the training is to test their Armed Forces readiness to launch tactical nuclear weapons in the battlefield, according to the Kremlin.
The nuclear drills will take place in Central district and also the southern military district which is in Ukraine, the Kyiv Independent reported.

โAs part of this exercise, the personnel of the missile formations of the Southern and Central military districts will work out combat training tasks of obtaining special training ammunition for the Iskander-M operational-tactical missile systems, equipping launch vehicles with them and covertly advancing to designated positions in preparation for conducting electronic launchers.

In May Vladimir Putin ordered the first stage of nuclear drills in response to โprovocative statementsโ issued by the West.
A non-strategic nuclear weapon (NSNW) is for use on the battlefield and their primary use is to be used in close proximity or even in contested territory, such as the annexed areas of Ukraine that Putin claims is now part of the Russian Federation.
The Russian President has threatened that Moscow will โmake use of all weapon systems available to usโ if any part of the Russian Federation is threatened, this includes the Ukrainian occupied territories.
Previously NATOโs Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that Putin โknows very well that a nuclear war should never be fought and cannot be won,โ however Putin uses nuclear threats and rhetoric in an attempt to deter the alliance.
