Jill Easterbrook, the executive in charge of turning around Tesco, has quit less than a year after being appointed as transformation director.
It is not clear why Easterbrook, who held over various positions at Tesco over the past 15 years, quit.
In a statement, Tesco said Easterbrook has completed her work and her role is now redundant.
Tesco said: “After 15 years at Tesco, Jill Easterbrook has decided to leave the company early next year.
“Jill has held a number of leadership positions across Tesco including running UK Clothing, leading our Developing Businesses and most recently, overseeing the first phase of our turnaround as group transformation director.
“We’d like to thank Jill for her outstanding work during her time at Tesco and wish her every success for the future.”
Shares in the supermarket giant dropped nearly 3.5% yesterday after the news of Easterbrook’s departure broke.
