The US President Donald Trump has tweeted that looters will be shot after protestors have caused chaos after a third night riots.

People are protesting in Minneapolis after George Floyd died in police custody after a police officer pressed his knee on Floyd’s neck for eight minutes whilst arresting him.

Four police officers were sacked, but protestors are saying that murder charges should be sought.

Trump warned “when the looting starts, the shooting starts,” and the National Guard have been ordered to “get the job done right” if Minneapolis, Minnesota was not “brought under control.”

Trump described the protestors as “thugs” and said the situation is “dishonouring the memory” of Floyd who was just 46-years old.

Trump tweeted, “I can’t stand back & watch this happen to a great American City, Minneapolis. A total lack of leadership.

“Either the very weak Radical Left Mayor, Jacob Frey, get his act together and bring the City under control, or I will send in the National Guard & get the job done right.”

He added, “These THUGS are dishonouring the memory of George Floyd, and I won’t let that happen. Just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him that the Military is with him all the way.

“Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts. Thank you!”

Last night demonstrators set fire to a police station, and a police spokesman confirmed that the third precinct station was evacuated.

Tim Waltz the city’s government has called in the National Guard, and at one stage police were trying to stop looters.

Police said in a statement that one person was in a critical condition and “some arrests” had been made.
