Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon warned on Thursday that coronavirus “is spreading again” as the R rate could be as high as 1.4.
Sturgeon pleaded with Scots to “take this seriously” as the virus is surging as the R rate in Scotland is likely to have risen above 1 and could potentially be as high as 1.4.
She confirmed that there had been 101 new confirmed coronavirus cases in 24-hours, with 53 of those being in Glasgow, which has had restrictions put in place banning indoor gatherings.
The First Minister said, “The virus is spreading again here, just as it is elsewhere in the UK and Europe.”
She said that it will be a “long haul” to combat coronavirus and added, “The virus will take every opportunity we give it.
“So, we have to make sure we don’t give it that opportunity.”
