Russia has been accused of a “false flag attack” by deliberately blowing up the Sudzha gas metering station in Kursk to blame it on Kyiv.

The gas station supplies exports gas to Europe and Russian media has accused Ukrainian forces as part of a “discrediting campaign against Ukraine.”

The Ukrainian General Staff said in a statement the accusations coming out of Russia is “baseless.”

It adds, “The mentioned station was repeatedly shelled by the Russians themselves.”

Ukrainian military said that Russia previously has targeted the same station in the Kursk region using a guided aerial bomb and there was an attack on the gas metering station three days ago.

The General Staff said Russian forces use to gas pipeline close to the facility to conceal their movements, the Kyiv Independent reported.

The statement added, “The Russians continue to produce numerous fakes and seek to mislead the international community.

“We ask you to trust only official sources, verify the information, and not succumb to manipulation.”
