Iran has launched airstrikes on Pakistan in an “unprovoked violation of its airspace” in an “illegal” strike which has killed two children and injured three others.

The Pakistan Foreign Ministry has issued a strong statement to Tehran condemning the attack on Tuesday in the Baluchistan province.

The Pakistan Foreign Ministry said in a statement, “This violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty is completely unacceptable and can have serious consequences.”

The nuclear state added, “Pakistan has always said terrorism is a common threat to all countries in the region that requires coordinated action.

“Such unilateral acts are not in conformity with good neighbourly relations and can seriously undermine bilateral trust and confidence.”

The Ministry gave no further details of the Iranian drone and missile attacks; however, Tehran said the strikes were aimed at a Sunni militant group, Jaish al-Adl, however Iranian media were quick to make the references quickly disappear.

The airstrikes on the nuclear state threatens relations between Pakistan and Iran as the two countries have maintained diplomatic relations.
