Fears of full-scale war breaking out after Iran hits Israel with hundreds of missiles

Iran has fired hundreds of missiles on Israel overnight in retaliation to Israel striking Tehran’s nuclear bases.

There are real fears of a full-scale war breaking out as dozens of Israelis have been injured and many killed.

An Iranian missile appears to have evaded Israels Iron Dome and hit somewhere in Tel Aviv as thick black smoke was seen rising into the night sky as air raid sirens sounded across the country with residents taking refuge in their bomb shelters.

Iran has issued a warning to Washington that strikes will continue and the conflict will “spread” to US bases over the coming days in the region.

Iran’s Fars news agency reported, “This confrontation will not end with last night’s limited actions and Iran’s strikes will continue.

“And this action will be very painful and regrettable for the aggressors.”

Thursday’s overnight airstrikes on Iran were launched as Danny Dannon, Israel’s UN ambassador said Tehran was “within days” of being able to build nuclear weapons.

David Lammy, the British Foreign Secretary said he spoke to the Iranian Foreign Minister and warned the Middle East is in a “moment of grave peril.”

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres wrote on X, “Israeli bombardment of Iranian nuclear sites. Iranian missile strikes in Tel Aviv. Enough escalation. Time to stop. Peace and diplomacy must prevail.”
