The Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has demanded an apology after Cabinet Minister Peter Kyle accused him of being “on the side of Jimmy Savile.”
Kyle told Sky News claimed that Farage is “on the side of the predators which includes Savile.
He wrote on X, “Peter Kyle’s comments on Sky News are disgusting. He should do the right thing and apologise.”
Kyle said that Farage is “on the side” of “extreme pornographers” that target young children online.”
Farage was accused of “turning the clock right back” on laws which protects children who are online.
Kyle said, “So you know, we have people out there who are extreme pornographers, peddling hate, peddling violence. Nigel Farage is on their side.
“Make no mistake about it, if people like Jimmy Savile were alive today, he’d be perpetrating his crimes online. And Nigel Farage is saying that he’s on their side.”
Kyle added, “Nigel Farage is on the side of turning the clock back to the time when strange adults, strangers can get in touch via messaging apps with children.”
On Monday Farage the former Reform UK chairman Zis Yusuf said they will put an end to the “dystopian” act saying this does “absolutely nothing to protect children” but it suppresses freedom of speech,” but to “force social media companies to censor anti-government speech.”
Yusuf told Sky News, “I’m 38 years old. It’s one of the most outrageous and disgusting things a politician has said in the political arena that I can remember.”
Yousef told Sky News Labour “no idea how the internet actually works”, and how “deeply unserious they are about online safety”.
“Levelling that allegation, talking about Jimmy Savile in that way, does nothing other than denigrate the victims of Jimmy Savile,” Yusuf added.
