The Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen and the Defence Minister Lund Poulsen has said this is no chance that the US President Donald Trump will “get Greenland” even if he did invade the country.
The Ritzau news agency reported Lokke Rasmussen said, “Trump will not get Greenland. Greenland is Greenland and the Greenlandic people are people, also in terms of international law.
“This is also why we have said time and again that it is ultimately Greenland that decides Greenland’s situation.”
Speaking to Denmark Radio he was asked if Trump will invade the country, Lokke Rasmussen said, “He will not get Greenland. And that’s why I shouldn’t stand here and give advice on how he can take something away, something he shouldn’t do.”

The chairman of the Liberal Party, Lund Poulsen said, “I agree with the comments that the foreign minister made a few hours ago.”
Denmark’s European allies have discussed placing soldiers on the ground in Greenland, the French Foreign Minister, Jean-Noel Barrot said.
Barrot said, “Why not, since it is a matter of security,” he added, it “is not the wish expressed by Denmark, but it is a possibility.”
Austrian general Robert Briegeer, who heads the EU’s military committee, told the German World on Sunday, sending EU troops to Greenland would send a “strong signal” to the US President.
He added, “In my view, it would make sense not only to station US troops in Greenland, as before but also to consider stationing EU soldiers there.”
Last week it was suggested that Trump wants to annex Greenland and he has refused to rule out the use of military force.
The Financial Times has reported Trump held a phone call with the Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen where the US President become increasingly aggressive and confrontational when he was told Greenland is not for sale.
Senior European officials told the FT, “It was a cold shower,” am official said.
“Before, it was hard to take it seriously. But I do think it is serious, and potentially very dangerous.
The Kyiv Independent reported that another official described the call as “horrendous.”
It was reported that Fredriksen told Trump they are happy to get more involved with the US to build more US bases and to do mineral extraction as Greenland has vast reserves of mineral wealth.
However, a European official said, “The intent was very clear. They want it. The Danes are now in crisis mode.”
Also last week a Danish MP who is a member of the European Parliament has told the US President Donald Trump to “f*** off” over his bid to buy Greenland.
Anders Vistisen of the Danish People’s Party said that Greenland has been part of the “Danish Kingdom for 800-years.”
