A commuter who “possibly” slipped on pigeon poo at Paddington Station has received £27,602 compensation from Network Rail.
Network Rail’s Philip Thrower said, “With tens of millions of people using our stations every day, only a tiny fraction of a percent experience a mishap.
“If we are at fault for causing damage or injury to anyone, we rightly compensate them for those accidents and put in place new ways of working to stop them from happening again.”
Data obtained by the BBC reveals that Network Rail has paid out around £1m over five years for mishaps across their stations.
A passenger who slipped on liquid at Charing Cross station received a whopping £39,631, the highest amount paid to date.
