The former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has arrived in Kyiv with other world leaders for the third anniversary of the Ukraine war.
Thirteen leaders will arrive in the Ukrainian capital for a summit to discuss possible negotiations and security guarantees.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and the European Council President Antonio Costa arrived on Monday morning.
Von der Leyen wrote on X, “We are in Kyiv today, because Ukraine is Europe.
“In this fight for survival, it is not only the destiny of Ukraine that is at stake. It’s Europe’s destiny.”
Johnson wrote on X, “I am proud to be here in Kyiv on the third anniversary of (Russian President Vladimir) Putin’s invasion.
“I salute the continuing heroism of the Ukrainian people in resisting a vile act of unprovoked aggression and I categorically reject the bizarre untruths currently being peddled about the origins of that war.”
President Volodymyr Zelensky praised his country for “resistance” and “heroism” as they have been fighting for three years against Vladimir Putin’s illegal invasion.
Zelensky said on Monday, “three years of resistance. Three years of gratitude. Three years of absolute heroism of Ukrainians,” adding, “I thank everyone who defends and supports it.”
