In just two days the Metropolitan Police have arrested 290 climate change protestors, after they have caused criminal damage to Shell headquarters in Waterloo and staged a series of “non violent demonstrations.”
The protests that are led by Extinction Rebellion have caused chaos across London, with Waterloo Bridge closed, and targeting major junctions such as Oxford Circus and Marble Arch.
Scotland Yard said, “contingency plans are in place should custody suites become full” as the protestors have more plans for disruption across the capital.
Chief Superintendent Colin Wingrove said on Tuesday, “At this time, ongoing demonstrations are causing serious disruptions to public transport, local businesses and Londoners who wish to go about their daily business.”
Police have told protestors that they are to confine themselves only to the Marble Arch area, however this is clearly being ignored as Westminster Bridge has been taken over by the protestors.
Police are taking immediate action against protestors in other locations across the capital.
