Wedgwood has announced plans to suspend production at their Staffordshire factory for up to 90 days at the end of the month.
The move will see 70 workers place on temporary leave from 29 September as a โshort term measureโ as there is lower demand in of their โkey markets.โ
Fiskars group said the factory in Barlaston will also suspend tours offered which is part of the World of Wedgwood tourist destination until January 2026.
A spokesperson said, โThis short-term measure is being taken to address elevated inventory levels caused by lower consumer demand in some of our key markets.โ
They added, โBarlaston and its community are of key importance to Fiskars Group and Wedgwood.โ
Wedgwood was created in 1730 in Staffordshire by Josiah Wedgwood making English pottery design.
In recent years Wedgwood has been hit with rising costs and high energy bills and in February Royal Stafford closed after 200-years.
