Vodafone agrees deal with Telefonica

Vodafone has agreed a cable deal with Telefonica in Germany which will help ease competition concerns as they took over large quantities of Liberty global across Europe.

Mobile phone giant Vodafone secured a wholesale agreement that allows Telefonica to offer high-speed broadband to consumers.

The mobile phone company said the agreement and other commitments will “enhance broadband competition in Germany to the benefit of consumers and broadcasters.”

Nick Read, chief executive of Vodafone said, “Our deal with Liberty Global is transformational in many ways.

“It is a significant step towards a Gigabit society, which will enable consumers and businesses to access the world of content and digital services at high speeds.

“It also creates a converged national challenger in four important European countries, bringing innovation and greater choice.”
