Vodafone agrees deal with Telefonica

Vodafone has agreed a cable deal with Telefonica in Germany which will help ease competition concerns as they took over large quantities of Liberty global across Europe.

Mobile phone giant Vodafone secured a wholesale agreement that allows Telefonica to offer high-speed broadband to consumers.

The mobile phone company said theย agreement and other commitmentsย will โ€œenhance broadband competition in Germany to the benefit of consumers and broadcasters.โ€

Nick Read, chief executive of Vodafone said,ย โ€œOur deal with Liberty Global is transformational in many ways.

โ€œIt is a significant step towards a Gigabit society, which will enable consumers and businesses to access the world of content and digital services at high speeds.

โ€œIt also creates a converged national challenger in four important European countries, bringing innovation and greater choice.โ€
