Uber ‘fit and proper’ to operate in London despite ‘historical failings’

A judge has ruled on Monday that Uber is “fit and proper” to operate in London and “now” hold an “operator’s licence.”

This comes after Transport for London (TfL) rejected Uber’s application to hold a licence in November amid “historical failings” and they pointed to “several breaches that placed passengers and their safety at risk.”

Earlier this months Uber challenged TfL’s decision in a four-day hearing at Westminster Magistrate’s Court.

Judge Tan Ikram said in a written verdict, “Despite their historical failings, I find them, now, to be a fit and proper person to hold a London PHV (private hire vehicle) operator’s licence.”
