Twitter never lets the truth stand in the way of a good story, or of toilet humour. Despite Thames Water moving quickly to dispel fast spreading rumours that the brown flood waters seen in South London last night were caused by a burst water main, nobody on Twitter cared, and instead, the social network was soon awash with sewage gags.
By 10pm, the hashtag #LondonPoo was trending with #Poonami not far behind.
