The US President Donald Trump wants to annex Greenland and he has refused to rule out the use of military force.

The Financial Times has reported Trump held a phone call with the Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen where the US President become increasingly aggressive and confrontational when he was told Greenland is not for sale.

Senior European officials told the FT, “It was a cold shower,” am official said.

“Before, it was hard to take it seriously. But I do think it is serious, and potentially very dangerous.

The Kyiv Independent reported that another official described the call as “horrendous.”

Greenland is the territory of Denmark who are a NATO member and normally are an ally of the US which is also home to Danish and US military bases on the Arctic island.

It was reported that Fredriksen told Trump they are happy to get more involved with the US to build more US bases and to do mineral extraction as Greenland has vast reserves of mineral wealth.

However, a European official said, “The intent was very clear. They want it. The Danes are now in crisis mode.”

The Danish Prime Minister’s office has said that they do “not recognize the interpretation of the conversation given by anonymous sources,” the White House has provided no comment.

Security analyst Alexander Khara, director of the Center for Defense Strategies in Kyiv, told the Associated Press (AP), “We’re in a time of transition from the old system based on norms and principles, heading to more conflicts, more chaos, and more uncertainty.”

Last week a Danish MP who is a member of the European Parliament has told the US President Donald Trump to “f*** off” over his bid to buy Greenland.

Anders Vistisen of the Danish People’s Party said that Greenland has been part of the “Danish Kingdom for 800-years.”

Vistisen said at the EU session in Strasbourg, France, Dear President Trump, listen very carefully.

“Greenland has been part of the Danish kingdom for 800 years.

It’s a part of our country. It is not for sale.

“Let me put it in words you might understand – Mr Trump f*** off.”
