Labour has won the general election in a landslide victory and Sir Keir Starmer has said the country has “spoken” and “change begins now.”
Labour has secured the 326 seats needed for a majority and it is now “all over” for the Conservative Party after 14-years of rule.
The Labour leader said that country has “spoken and they’re ready for change, to end the politics of performance”.
He added: “The change begins right here. Because this is your democracy, your community and your future. You have voted. It is now time for us to deliver.”
Rishi Sunak the outgoing Prime Minister has led his party to an annihilation and total defeat and has conceded “it’s all over.”
Sunak congratulated Sir Keir, he said, “The Labour Party has won this General Election, and I’ve called Sir Keir Starmer to congratulate him on his victory.
“Today, power will change hands in a peaceful and orderly manner, with goodwill on all sides. That is something that should give us all confidence in our country’s stability and future.”
