The Prime Minister has announced “another two” more barges will be used to house asylum seekers who are “coming here illegally.”

The two more barges will around a thousands asylum seekers and within the next two weeks they will dock in Portland, Dorset.

These barges will join the “Bibby Stockholm” which is set to be used to house around 500 asylum seekers.

Speaking at a news conference in Kent Rishi Sunak said, “To reduce pressures on local communities we will also house people on ships. The first will arrive in Portland in the next fortnight and we’ve secured another two today.”

Sunak also said that thousands of migrants are being forced to share rooms in hotels creating extra spaces and he insists that this is “more than fair” as he is facing criticism over the move.

He said, “If you’re coming here illegally claiming sanctuary from death, torture or persecution, then you should be willing to share a taxpayer funded hotel room in central London.”

The Prime Minister said at the news conference that “stop the boats plan” is now “starting to work” and numbers crossing the English Channel is down by a fifth compared to last year.
