May the force be with – us, actually. Lucasfilm, one of cinema’s all-time most iconic production companies, will be opening a branch of its visual effects house Industrial Light & Magic in Soho, according to Hollywood Reporter.

(Lucasfilm, in case you missed the last 35 years, is of course the production company behind the Star Wars films.)

The new visual effects house in the capital comes off the back of the shooting of Star Wars: Episode VII at London’s Pinewood Studios, expected to start filming in May this year, according to Hollywood Reporter.

And ILM in Soho will of course be working on the new Star Wars film.

The film will be directed by JJ Abrams.

ILM president Lynwen Brennan said: “We needed to expand, and London is a key place to find great talent.”

Lucasfilm is owned by the Walt Disney Company, which bought it off George Lucas for just over $4bn a couple of years back.
