Vladimir Putin has ordered the largest conscription of cannon fodder since the war started in February 2022.

Putin signed a decree on Monday ordering 160,000 men for mandatory conscription who will be thrown into Ukraine.

The draft will start in April until in June and for 160,000 men which is the largest campaign in 14 years.

Twice a year a decree is signed for compulsory military service of men aged between 18 to 30 who will serve for one year.

In 2024 150,00 was called up to fight and in 2022 there was 134,500 men ordered to serve in the Russian military.

Russia is preparing for a new offensive and the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Putin of dragging out the war to gain more territory in an attempt to be in a better negotiating position to keep Ukraineโ€™s territory.

Last week President Zelensky said, “According to our intelligence, Russia is preparing for new offensives in Sumy, Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia regions.

“They are dragging out negotiations and trying to drag the US into endless, meaningless discussions about fake conditions to buy time and then try to seize even more land.”

The European Union’s foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas has hit out at Putin saying he is โ€œnot really wanting peaceโ€ and has called for more pressure to be place on Russia.
