31st Jul 24 1:10 pm

Overnight Israel carried out several operations one in the Lebanese capital Beirut killing a Hezbollah commander and the other in the Tehran killing the Hamas leader.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards said that Israeli jets carried out a “precision strike” in Iran’s capital, Tehran killing Ismail Haniyeh, the Hamas leader.

Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Mikhail Bogdanov called the assassination an “unacceptable political murder” of Haniyeh.

Russian state news reported that Bogdanov said, “This is an absolutely unacceptable political murder, and it will lead to further escalation of tensions.”

Hamas military wing has warned that this will now prompt retaliatory measures against Israel, but stopped short of disclosing any plans and called the assassination a “treacherous Zionist raid on his residence in Tehran.”

Al-Aqsa TV which is run by Hamas reported that the group’s senior official Moussa Abu Marzouk warned this “cowardly act that will not go unpunished.”

The Palestinian movement, Fatah called the killing of Haniyeh “a hideous crime and a truly cowardly act” and President Mahmoud Abbas said the killing of the Hamas chief will not prevent resistance fighters from attacking the Israeli military.

Turkey has spoken out and condemned the assassination and on Tuesday the Turkish President warned Israel not to attack Lebanon or the Turkish Army could be sent to Israel.

Recep Yayyip Erdogan has consistently hit out at Jerusalem over their attacks inside Gaza which has seen tens of thousands of innocent Palestinians killed.

Erdogan warned that he might send his troops to Israel, he said, “We need to be very strong so that Israel cannot do these ridiculous things to Palestine. Just as we entered Karabakh, just as we entered Libya, we can do something similar to them.”
