Putin accused of ‘another attempt of manipulation’ in wanting a three-day ceasefire

29th Apr 25 10:35 am

The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused the Russian tyrant Vladimir Putin of “manipulation” as he has called for a three-day ceasefire in May as Russia will celebrate the 80th anniversary ending Nazi Germany.

The so-called truce will start at midnight on 8 May until the end of 10 May so that Putin and Russia can celebrate Victory Day.

The Kremlin posted on Telegram that they believe “that the Ukrainian side should follow this example.”

Zelensky wrote on Telegram, “We in Ukraine never wanted a single second of this war – and we have always said that we are ready to work as swiftly as possible with all partners who can help establish peace and guarantee security.

“Russia has consistently rejected everything and continues to manipulate the world, trying to deceive the US.

“Now, yet again, another attempt at manipulation: for some reason, everyone is supposed to wait until 8 May before ceasing fire – just to provide Putin with silence for his parade. We value human lives, not parades.

“That’s why we believe – and the world believes – that there is no reason to wait until 8 May.”

He said that the ceasefire “should not be just for a few days, only to return to killing afterwards.

“It must be immediate, full, and unconditional – for at least 30 days to ensure it is secure and guaranteed,” he added.

On Monday the Kremlin said in a statement, “On the orders from Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Armed Forces Vladimir Putin, the Russian side will declare a ceasefire for humanitarian considerations on the days of the 80th anniversary of the victory, from 12:00 a.m. on May 8 to 12:00 a.m. on May 11.

“All hostilities will be suspended in that period.”
