The Transport Minister Grant Shapps said during Saturday’s Downing Street press briefing, the government are aiming to implement measures so pubs and restaurants can open.

Shapps said that the they are planning on an “outdoor summer” should conditions allow it in July.

He said at the daily coronavirus daily briefing, “Therefore as conditions allow and not until July we will be looking to support creative ways for businesses to reopen while maintaining social distancing.

“We know restaurants and bars will want to start trading again and we will work with them so that we can enjoy an outdoor summer in a safe and responsible environment.”

However, smart thinking pub landlords have found legal ways to serve thirsty punters cold pints during the coronavirus lockdown.

Last weekend pub landlords served hundreds of thirsty punters who were queueing, applying social distancing and were served take away only, pints of beer legally in plastic cups.
