President Donald Trump has threatened to attack Iranian cultural sites saying they are “fair game for the US military” despite this could constitute a war crime.

On Sunday Iraq’s parliament voted to expel all US troops from the country. Trump said in response, that should Iraq expel US troops he was warned he will levy punishing actions and will hit Baghdad with economic penalties.

He further said that the US military will not leave Iraq until being paid for their military investments over the years.

In a tweet Trump said, “We will charge them sanctions like they’ve never seen before ever. It’ll make Iranian sanctions look somewhat tame.

“If there’s any hostility, that they do anything we think is inappropriate, we are going to put sanctions on Iraq, very big sanctions on Iraq.”

Trump is doing nothing to de-escalate the growing tensions in the region after the assassination of Qasem Soleimani on Friday.

In a threat to Iran he said, The United States just spent Two Trillion Dollars on Military Equipment. We are the biggest and by far the BEST in the World!

“If Iran attacks an American Base, or any American, we will be sending some of that brand new beautiful equipment their way…and without hesitation!”

In another post on Twitter he said, “These Media Posts will serve as notification to the United States Congress that should Iran strike any U.S. person or target, the United States will quickly & fully strike back, & perhaps in a disproportionate manner.

“Such legal notice is not required, but is given nevertheless!”

In a tweet on Saturday President Trump raised the prospect of targeting Iranian cultural sites.

His tweet said, “They’re [Iran] allowed to kill our people. They’re allowed to torture and maim our people. They’re allowed to use roadside bombs and blow up our people.

“And we’re not allowed to touch their cultural sites? It doesn’t work that way.”
